Antoine Jourdan

Designer and co-founder of Noran Gallery (with Amel Jourdan), Antoine Jourdan develops a line of art-furniture and collection pieces conceived in dialogue with Moroccan artisans and the artists the gallery represents.

Practice

A design practice rooted in collectible furniture

Antoine Jourdan develops a designer's practice dedicated to art-furniture and collection pieces, conceived as objects of use as much as works in their own right.

His work is built on a close dialogue with the artisans he collaborates with in Morocco, notably Studio Bibi for textile. Solid wood, marble, metal and hand-woven fabrics become the material of a personal vocabulary, where the matter keeps the trace of the gesture that shaped it.

Part of his production is realised in limited edition, most pieces are conceived as bespoke, adjusted to a place and a particular brief. In parallel, he develops creations in collaboration with the artists represented by the gallery, among them the Gamme Ceramica conceived with Georges Pelletier.

His design of the Haute Couture armchair was awarded the Design Prize of the year 2019.
