Caroline Rennequin, the Paris-based painter represented by Noran Gallery, deploys in this gouache a vocabulary at once instinctive and learned, that of an artist who passed through École Estienne, Duperré and Arts Décoratifs before devoting herself to painting. Gesture, colour and matter speak with a vegetal presence that flows through her work.
Caroline Rennequin concurrently pursues a multidisciplinary personal artistic practice, in which questions of the foreign, the intimate, and the feminine, as well as the relationships between craftsmanship, popular culture, non-Western art, and contemporary art, hold a prominent place.
This is evidenced by her latest series of 301 gouache paintings on paper created in 2020, titled “That's All Folks!”, centered around the universal motif of the flower.
