Inside the studio of
Georges Pelletier
An encounter around gesture, material and the place of contemporary ceramics within Noran Gallery's universe.
In the studio, the pieces seem to belong both to a long span of time and to a distinctly contemporary eye. Ceramics enter into dialogue with architecture, light and gestures passed from one generation to the next.
For Georges Pelletier, decoration is never applied as a simple motif. It structures the object, accompanies its volume and gives each piece an almost architectural presence.
The hand remains visible, but never decorative.
Noran Gallery presents this work for its capacity to connect know-how, memory and contemporary use. The forms inhabit a space without dominating it, like calm markers in a home, a gallery or a collection.
In Marrakech, these pieces take on a particular resonance: they join a history of materials, workshops and transmission that the gallery defends through its programme.
